James Drynan Guitarist /Vocalist / Pianist / Arranger/ Songwriter
James Drynan has been playing professionally for over thirty years.
Based in Toronto during the late 1960s, he played with Ronnie Hawkins band,
was session guitarist for CBCs The Music Machine, playing with Moe Koffman and Doug Riley.
He was arranger, vocalist and guitarist for the groups Toronto, Bad Axe, Calliope,
playing in Toronto clubs such as The Gasworks, The Savarin, The Friars.
Guitarist with jazz quartets at the Holiday Inn, Chinatown, The Westin,
The Granite Club, The Beverly Hills and many others.
He has performed on CBC radio and TV nationally,
CTV, (Toronto), CHCH, (Hamilton), City TV, (Toronto) and CJOH, (Ottawa.)
James has written award-winning jingles, national commercials and logged studio time in Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa and Quebec City.
As a solo performer, he has appeared across Canada and gigged in the United States,
Jamaica and Dominican Republic.
He's amassed a diversified repertoire of over three hundred songs in genres
of folk, rock, jazz, reggae, pop, classical, contemporary and country.
Currently based in the Ottawa- Hull area, he has entertained
at the Chateau Laurier, Club Champtre, Casino du Lac
Leamy, Mont Ste. Marie, Westin Hotel, Caf des Artistes
and other venues featuring live music.
He is currently involved with a jazz trio playing the Ottawa area,
as well as doing studio work and solo performances.
