About johnlunman

I began performing in 1996, getting my start at Don’s Coffeehouse in Elmvale, Ontario.  Since then, I’ve been performing in bars, coffeehouses, and on boats in locations ranging from Northern Ontario to St. John’s, Newfoundland and the Australian Outback.

My first recording experience was contributing an original song to the Don’s Coffeehouse CD in 1998.  When Is Now (2003) was my first complete CD.  A very basic recording, I was surprised and thrilled to receive airplay on Radio Newfoundland for Saltwater Sea (re-recorded for the new CD), which was mostly written on the shores of Cape Spear, Newfoundland.

Highway 401 Tonight is much more rock-oriented.  The title track was inspired by many nights reflecting on past lives as I drove by places I once lived such as Brockville, Kingston, Belleville, Kitchener-Waterloo, and brief stops in Cornwall and Oshawa.  In fact, many of the tracks are what would be called “road songs”.

For most of the last 16 years, Midland, Ontario has been my hometown.
